The United States, in relief.

A topographic map of the United States that renders the whole country in three dimensions — the Rocky Mountains rising in deep brown down the spine of the West, the Cascade Range and the Sierra Nevada along the Pacific, the carved canyon country of the Colorado Plateau, and the Great Plains rolling out green toward the Mississippi. In the East, the long ridges of the Appalachians run from Georgia to Maine. Alaska and Hawaii are shown in their own insets.

Elevation is shown in bold, graduated color — green lowlands rising through gold to deep brown peaks — with only the major cities and summits named, from Mount Whitney and Mount Elbert to Longs Peak and Grand Teton, so the landscape itself does the talking. It's not a road map; it's the land as it truly rises and falls.
